About the Department of Economics
The Department of Economics trains economists who will work to conduct research and practice in various stages of economic life, and provides academic formation to individuals who will work in the public and private sectors by utilizing quantitative techniques such as mathematics, statistics and econometrics within the framework of economic theory.
Economic education covers two basic processes. The first of these is teaching the economic principles and tools to be used in post-university life and thus training the quality workforce required by economic units trying to be successful in the face of rapidly changing global conditions. The second is to develop students' systematic and independent thinking skills that can be useful in every area of human life and to provide them with scientific discipline in economic matters. Within this framework, in addition to economics courses, courses on business, finance and law are also included in the department of economics, allowing graduates to have the opportunity to work in a wide range of positions.
After successfully completing the first three years of compulsory and predominantly theoretical courses, students of the department of economics are directed to elective courses in the fields they plan to work in after graduation, thus increasing their practical skills. In this way, students are encouraged to take advantage of a wide range of courses and graduate with a strong educational background. Optional English preparatory education, non-field elective courses, and optional internships are among the opportunities offered in the department.
